Disease, death and cure. Muslims and the health emergency

Original title : Malattia, morte e cura. I musulmani e l’emergenza sanitaria

The health emergency caused by Covid-19 has also had a strong impact on believers and religious communities of all religions. In addition to having distorted religious practices, it has brought to attention the issues of suffering and death, often removed by technical-scientific progress and the privatisation of the common experiences of falling ill and dying. These inescapable stages of existence, the related anthropological, social, juridical factors and the theological-ritual implications, could make us more aware and responsible in the face of the emergences, sharing with colleagues, friends and neighbours, of any belief and religion, the simple but eternal mystery of suffering and dying.

This volume, through a collection of essays and testimonies, aims to present how these experiences are lived in Muslim faith communities. It is intended for social and health care personnel, chaplains, volunteers, but also for political and administrative authorities, for those involved in immigration in general, and in any case, for all those people of ‘good will’ who, being in contact with the care of Muslim believers, can find new opportunities for meeting and dialogue and create networks of solidarity.

Titre original : “Malattia, morte e cura. I musulmani e l’emergenza sanitaria”
