The dialogue between the Focolare Movement and Muslims
Original title : “Il dialogo del Movimento dei Focolari con i Musulmani”
Abstract : Academic meetings and relationships between official representatives of the Christian Churches and of Muslim communities helpand favour Muslim–Christian dialogue. However, this dialogue is sustained and lives above all through interpersonal ties, authentic and sincere relationships between Christian and Muslim believers. The author provides a testimony of what he has personallyexperienced within the Catholic movement of the Focolari, which over the years and in various countries in the world has developed a tightly knit network of contacts, meetings, places of peace, based on the spirituality of unity, of love and of reciprocalrespect. The spirit of the foundress of the movement, the recently deceased Chiara Lubich, is an answer to the deep need of human and spiritual brotherliness that unites persons beyond their undeniable differencies.

Résumé : Les rencontres d’académiciens et les rapports entre les représentants officiels des Églises chrétiennes et des communautés musulmanes aident et favorisent le dialogue islamo–chrétien. Mais ce dialogue s’alimente et vit surtout de rapports interpersonnels, de relations vraies et sincères entre croyants chrétiens et musulmans. L’auteur fournit un témoignage vécu directement à l’intérieur du mouvement catholique des Focolaris, lequel a développé durant des années et dans divers pays du monde, un réseau serré de contacts, de rencontres, de lieux de paix, basés sur la spiritualité de l’unité, de l’amour et du respect mutuel. L’esprit de la fondatrice du mouvement, Chiara Lubich, décédée récemment, répond à l’exigence profonde de fraternité humaine et spirituelle qui unit les personnes au–delà de leurs différences indéniables
