Haoues Seniguer
Born in 1979 in France, Haoues Seniguer is a political scientist specialising in political Islam and Islamism, in France as well as in the Arab world, and Morocco in particular.
He holds a doctorate in political science from Sciences Po Lyon (2012), with a dissertation on the genesis and reconfigurations of Moroccan Islamism, together with the French accreditation to supervise research (HDR, 2024). He was an associate professor (maître de conférences) of political science at Sciences Po Lyon and deputy director of the Institute for the Study of Islam and Societies of the Muslim World (IISMM, EHESS) from 2020 to 2021. He is now a full professor at Paul-Valéry Montpellier 3 University (IRIEC) and an associate researcher at the Triangle laboratory (UMR 5206, CNRS / ENS de Lyon).
His work focuses on Islamist movements, notably the Muslim Brotherhood and its heirs, contemporary political Islam, Islam in France, and the relationship between religion and politics.
