Volume 2 of the CIBEDO publication series
With a preface by Karl Cardinal Lehmann
The Alevis of Anatolia are considered another important group in Islam, alongside the Sunnis and Shiites. Nevertheless, even among their members, the question of whether they are an Islamic grouping or an independent religious community is controversial. In Germany live about 500,000 Alevis, who are described as “moderate Muslims” or “secularised Muslims”.
Timo Güzelmansur presents for the first time a source-based theological work on the belief system of Anatolian Alevis from a Christian perspective, focusing on the seemingly numerous parallels between Alevism and Christianity. The study focuses on the doctrines of God, man and mediation between God and man.
