Gregory Palamas and the Dialogue with Islam
Abstract
This study by Angeliki Ziaka, published in L’actualité de la pensée byzantine (ed. Georges Arabatzis, Byzantinische Forschungen, vol. XXXI, 2013), revisits the encounter of the Byzantine theologian Gregory Palamas with Islam.
Held captive by the Turks in 1354-1355, Palamas left records of exchanges with Muslim interlocutors that rank among the earliest testimonies of a direct theological dialogue.
