“Entre la fe y la razón. The Paths of Political Thought in Morocco”, by Juan Antonio Macías Amoretti

In this book, Juan Antonio Macías Amoretti, professor of Arabic and Islamic studies at the University of Granada, explores the paths of political thought in contemporary Morocco through its two major currents: political Islam and secular Arab nationalism.

He does so by contrasting the thought of the Islamist leader ʿAbd al-Salām Yāsīn with that of the philosopher Muḥammad ʿĀbid al-Jābrī, two authors who, by opposing routes, seek an intellectual and political response to the crisis of Arab and Moroccan societies, placing the notions of Islam and democracy at the heart of their projects for change.
