Exegesis of the Qur’an. Tafsir al-Jalalayn
Translated and introduced by Paolo Gonzaga (Istituto Italiano di Studi Islamici, Milan, 2016), this work is the first complete Italian translation of the Tafsir al-Jalalayn, one of the most widely read and esteemed Quranic commentaries (tafsir) in Islamic studies.
The work of the two Jalals, Jalal ad-Din al-Mahalli (d. 1459) and his student Jalal ad-Din al-Suyuti (d. 1505), this concise single-volume commentary is known for its clarity and accessibility. The translator worked directly from the Arabic original, comparing it with the English (Feras Hamza) and French versions.
The translation makes a classical reference of Quranic exegesis, hitherto available mainly in Arabic, accessible to an Italian-speaking readership.
Traduit et présenté par Paolo Gonzaga (Istituto Italiano di Studi Islamici, Milan, 2016), cet ouvrage constitue la première traduction italienne intégrale du Tafsir al-Jalalayn, l’un des commentaires coraniques (tafsir) les plus diffusés et les plus estimés dans les études islamiques.
Œuvre des deux Jalal, Jalal ad-Din al-Mahalli (mort en 1459) et son élève Jalal ad-Din al-Suyuti (mort en 1505), ce commentaire concis, en un seul volume, se distingue par sa clarté et son accessibilité. Le traducteur a travaillé directement sur l’original arabe, en le confrontant aux versions anglaise (Feras Hamza) et française.
Cette traduction met à la disposition du public italophone une référence classique de l’exégèse coranique, jusque-là accessible surtout en arabe.
ترجمها وقدّم لها باولو غونزاغا (المعهد الإيطالي للدراسات الإسلامية، ميلانو، 2016)، وهي أول ترجمة إيطالية كاملة لتفسير الجلالين، أحد أكثر التفاسير القرآنية انتشاراً وتقديراً في الدراسات الإسلامية.
وهو من تأليف الجلالَين: جلال الدين المحلّي (المتوفى 1459) وتلميذه جلال الدين السيوطي (المتوفى 1505)، ويتميّز هذا التفسير المختصر في مجلد واحد بوضوحه وسهولة تناوله. وقد اعتمد المترجم على الأصل العربي مباشرة، مقارناً إياه بالنسختين الإنجليزية (فيراس حمزة) والفرنسية.
تتيح هذه الترجمة للقارئ الإيطالي مرجعاً كلاسيكياً في التفسير القرآني كان متاحاً أساساً باللغة العربية.
