Muslim Normative Particularism in Funerary Matters and Mortuary Health Regulation in Spain
Originally published as El particularismo normativo musulmán en materia funeraria y su relevancia en la reglamentación de policía sanitaria mortuoria en España in the collective volume Eficacia en el derecho estatal de normas o actos de las confesiones religiosas (2015), this article by José Luis Llaquet de Entrambasaguas, tenured professor of State Ecclesiastical Law at Universidad Loyola Andalucía, this chapter sets Muslim funerary prescriptions (burial without a coffin, orientation, promptness) against Spanish mortuary health regulations, and the issues surrounding Muslim burial plots and cemeteries.
