“Schede per conoscere l’Islam”: a CEI-PISAI Tool Coordinated by Valentino Cottini

Presented on 10 November 2025 at the Pontifical Institute for Arabic and Islamic Studies (PISAI) in Rome, the volume Schede per conoscere l’Islam (“Factsheets to Know Islam”) is a project of the Italian Bishops’ Conference (CEI) and PISAI, coordinated by the Islamologist Valentino Cottini, former dean of PISAI and former director of the journal Islamochristiana.

The fruit of several years of joint work between Christian and Muslim authors, these freely available factsheets aim to present Islam as objectively as possible, primarily for Italian schools. Published on the sixtieth anniversary of the conciliar declaration Nostra aetate, they are meant, in the organizers’ words, to be “bridges” toward accurate knowledge, the precondition for mutual esteem between Christians and Muslims.
